Clarinet player, Fausto Corneo is a graduate of the ''Istituto Musicale A. Peri'' in Italy. He holds Masters Degrees with High Distinction in both clarinet and bass clarinet from the Rotterdam Conservatorium. His principal professors include Giovanni Iuliano (Italy), Walter Boeykens, Jan Jansen and Henri Bok (Holland) the latter with whom he worked as assistant at the Rotterdam Conservatorium. During this time he attended courses given by Giuseppe Garbarino (Italy), Guy Deplus (Spain) and Howard Klug (Holland). As an orchestral player, Mr. Corneo performed with Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, Rotterdam Young Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica di Savona, Filarmónica das Beiras, Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, Orquestra do Algarve, and Orquestra Gulbenkian with conductors Riccardo Muti, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Emmanuel Krivine, Arie van Beek, Jurien Hempel, Lawrence Foster, Cesário Costa, Laurent Wagner and Patrick Lange among others. He has performed chamber music in renowned concert halls such as Ridotto alla Scala in Milano, De Doelen in Rotterdam, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Fausto Corneo is the recipient of many prizes including first prize in the competition ''Città di Gessate'' in Italy (1996), ''Prieuré les Mesnil Saint Martin'' from the IV International Competition of Cartagena in Spain (2000) and ''De Link Music Prijs'' in Holland (2002). Since 2003, he has enjoyed a collaboration with Ensemble Darcos performing for the portugues radio Antena 2 and concerts in Lisbon, Torres Vedras in Portugal, Lyon and Berlin. Composers who have dedicated compositions to him include Nuno Côrte-Real, Gonçalo Lourenço, Buckhardt Soll, Marcella Pavia, and Burton Cummings. In 2005, Fausto Corneo was invited to participate as the only Italian representative at the first Cultural Interchange Asia-Europe in the Phillipines. His considerable improvisational skills have resulted in performances across Portugal with noted jazz musicians Carlos Barretto, Mário Delgado, José Salgueiro, Pedro Madaleno, Yuri Daniel, Bruno Pedroso, among others. He has recorded with Dulce Pontes, Gaiteiros de Lisboa (as a special guest) and Omaira. World Music projects are another facet of Fausto Corneo's musical life. As a member of the luso-italiano-brasilian quintet Barbacute, he performs diverse programs that encompass many genres: ragtime, chorinhos, klezmer, etc. Most notably, Barbacute performed in the Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon) in a concert broadcast on RTP. Fausto Corneo was professor of clarinet and chamber music at the Conservatório de Música de Caldas da Rainha, Conservatorio Regional do Algarve and Escola Profisional de Musica de Vila Real de S. Antonio (Portugal). In May 2005 he conducted a master class in clarinet and bass clarinet at the Conservatorio Profesional de Musica de Salamanca (Spain) by invitation of the institution. In 2011, Fausto gave a masterclasses in Curitiba (Ofincinas de Musica) and Caldas da Rainha (MusiCaldas). As a soloist, Fausto Corneo performed in Lisbon at Culturgest with OrchestrUtopica (2004) and at the Assembleia da República with the Orquestra do Algarve (2007). In 2009, Mr. Corneo gave a series of performances of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Orquestra do Algarve under the direction of Laurent Wagner. In 2010, he played the Copland Concerto in Lyon (France) and Torres Vedras (Portugal) in collaboration with Camerata du Rhône and Ensemble Darcos. Since 2006, Fausto Corneo is principal clarinet with the Orquestra do Algarve in Faro, Portugal.
